Environmental
Modeling and Assessment [staff]
Environmental
modelling and assessment group works on environmental modelling and assessment.
Such modelling includes integrated mass transfer, migration and accumulation
of pollutants in/through environmental media. Special emphasis is on uncertainty
and validity of the modelling.
The main
activities of the group are:
- Education:
We train young researchers in most advanced techniques of environmental
modelling and assessment. Our staff teach different courses related to environmantal
modelling, assessment ,and management at graduate and post graduate level.
- Research
and Development: We focus on the uncertainty of modelling of natural
systems (e.g., uncertainties in modelling of a geospheric/biospheric interface).
We develop models and modelling techniques, collaborate with laboratories
in creating valid data for the purpose of trustworthy modelling, and explore
validity of the models which simulate future events and states.
- Consultancy
and other expert work: The main activity in this area is environmental
impact assessment. We develop expert systems and evaluation procedures for
most complex environmental issues in the country, environmental policy development.,
and support of decision making. We also work on strategic environmental
assessments.
